Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Authors are encouraged to use a reference manager (for example Mendeley, Zotero, Endnote) to organize the references in the manuscript. Where available, DOIs for the references have been provided.
  • The submission file is in accordance with the English Template or Indonesian Template.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is available on the journal's website.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

Welcome to Puitika. Authors are kindly requested to read the following guidelines carefully before submitting their manuscripts. Manuscripts that do not comply with these guidelines may be returned to the authors for revision prior to the review process.

Scope of the Journal

Puitika accepts original research articles within the fields of linguistics, literary studies, and cultural studies, including interdisciplinary studies related to these areas.

Manuscript Requirements

Submitted manuscripts must meet the journal’s writing standards. The length of the article should range from 4,000 to 6,000 words, excluding the abstract and references.

Articles may be written in either English or Indonesian. However, authors are strongly encouraged to submit their manuscripts in English to enhance the international visibility and accessibility of their research. For articles written in Indonesian, the abstract must be provided in English.

Article Template

Authors are strongly encouraged to prepare their manuscripts using the journal template.

Citation and Referencing Style

Puitika applies the APA referencing style (7th edition). Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and consistency of all in-text citations and reference entries. Manuscripts must include a minimum of 20 references, and the reference list should contain only works that are cited in the main text.

Structure of the Article

The manuscript should be organized in the following order:

  4. Corresponding Author’s Email Address (We strongly recommend using your institutional email address associated with your current affiliation.)

All notifications regarding the editorial and review process will be sent to the email address provided by the corresponding author during registration and submission.

Publication Fee

Puitika does not charge any article processing charge (APC) or publication fee for accepted manuscripts.

Originality and Academic Integrity

Puitika only accepts manuscripts that have not been previously published and are not under consideration by another journal at the time of submission.

Puitika upholds the principles of academic honesty and integrity. Therefore, only original manuscripts free from plagiarism will be processed for publication.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Usage Policy

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools must be clearly declared within the manuscript body before the references section. Authors should specify the AI tool(s) used, how the tool(s) were used, and the purpose of their use in the research and writing process, in accordance with the journal’s AI Usage Policy.

Review Process

Puitika does not offer fast-track review services. All submitted manuscripts undergo a blind peer-review process.

Initial editorial screening takes 5–7 working days from submission. Authors are given 10 calendar days to complete any required preliminary revisions, starting from the date the screening decision is communicated by email and through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform.

Substantive peer review takes approximately 20–30 calendar days from the date the manuscript, following any required preliminary revisions, is sent to the reviewer. Authors are then given 20–30 calendar days to complete revisions following peer review, starting from the date the review decision and comments are communicated to the corresponding author by email and through OJS.

These timeframes may vary depending on revision requirements, reviewer availability, and the number of manuscripts being processed.

Copyright and Licensing

Authors whose articles have been published in Puitika are encouraged to disseminate their work through institutional repositories, academic platforms, and professional networks.

Copyright of the published work remains with the author(s). All published articles are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).

  • Appropriate attribution must identify the original author(s) and the original publication in Puitika, provide a link to the license, and indicate whether changes have been made.

Author Rights

Authors retain the right to:

  • Deposit and distribute their published articles in institutional repositories, personal websites, academic platforms, and other open-access repositories.

  • Use their published work for educational and scholarly purposes, including classroom teaching, academic presentations, and conference proceedings, subject to applicable attribution requirements.

  • Create adaptations, derivative works, and translations based on their published articles, provided that the terms of the CC BY-SA 4.0 license are observed.

Third-Party Content

Authors are responsible for ensuring that any third-party material included in their manuscripts, such as images, figures, tables, or substantial quotations, is used in accordance with applicable copyright laws and licensing terms. Where permission is required, authors must obtain it from the relevant rights holder before publication and provide appropriate attribution. The journal's license does not automatically extend to third-party materials that are identified as excluded from the article's licensing terms.

By publishing in Puitika, authors acknowledge and agree to the journal's copyright and licensing terms. These provisions support the free dissemination and reuse of scholarly work while ensuring appropriate attribution and continued sharing under the same license.

Letter of Acceptance (LoA)

Authors whose manuscripts are accepted for publication will receive a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from the journal.

Privacy Statement

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
