Manuscript Type

Puitika publishes only original research articles in linguistics, literary studies, and cultural studies, including interdisciplinary research related to these fields. The journal does not publish other manuscript types.

Original Research Article

An original research article presents an original scholarly investigation that advances knowledge, develops critical understanding, or contributes meaningful insights to its field of inquiry. Such an article must address a clearly defined research problem or scholarly question and demonstrate a substantive engagement with relevant scholarly literature, concepts, theories, and previous research.

Original research articles may employ empirical, textual, archival, theoretical, critical, interpretive, or other appropriate research approaches, depending on the nature of the research problem and the object of study. Interdisciplinary approaches are also welcome, provided that the manuscript falls within the journal's focus and scope and demonstrates a clear scholarly contribution to linguistics, literary studies, cultural studies, or related fields.

Manuscripts must demonstrate originality, analytical rigor, methodological or interpretive coherence, and conclusions that are adequately supported by the analysis and evidence presented. The contribution of the research must be clearly articulated in relation to existing scholarship. A manuscript that merely summarizes existing literature, describes a subject without substantive analysis, or reproduces previously published arguments without a meaningful original contribution does not meet the journal's expectations for an original research article.

Manuscript Length

Manuscripts must be between 4,000 and 6,000 words in length. This word count excludes the abstract, reference list, and author biographical notes.

Language

Manuscripts may be written in either English or Indonesian. Authors are strongly encouraged to submit their manuscripts in English to enhance the international visibility and accessibility of their research. For manuscripts written in Indonesian, the abstract must be provided in English.

Editorial Assessment and Peer Review

All submissions are subject to an initial editorial assessment to determine their relevance to the journal's focus and scope, compliance with the journal's submission requirements, originality, and suitability for scholarly peer review. Manuscripts that meet the initial requirements proceed to the peer-review process in accordance with the journal's Peer Review Policy.

Originality and Publication Eligibility

Submitted manuscripts must constitute original scholarly work, must not have been previously published, and must not be under consideration for publication by another journal at the time of submission. Authors are responsible for ensuring the integrity of their research, appropriately acknowledging the work of others, and complying with the journal's Publication Ethics and other applicable editorial policies.

Manuscripts must also comply with the requirements set out in the journal's Author Guidelines. Meeting the requirements for manuscript type, length, and scope does not guarantee acceptance for publication.
